Legacy Donations

How will my contribution be used by the Foundation?

According to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital Foundation By-laws, there are several ways that  your contribution can be used.

Currently we use funds for the  professional development and education of staff to enhance and increase the quality of care  provided to you and your family.  Funds are also used to help us  recruit and retain physicians for the area. Most important, we are committed to being ready to provide major capital funds for projects, repairs and maintenance as needed.

Our most recent project was the development of a Palliative Care Room in the  hospital.  The Family Room was designed for families who have loved ones in the hospital that are gravely ill.  The room provides families with privacy and quiet time.

One of our regular donors, Mr. Ernest Seel of Charlos Cove says he donates annually to the local hospital because of the work they do and “they keep me alive”.  He also donates to the IWK Children’s Hospital because “they take care of the kids and that’s our future.”
