June 15th – This week marks the end of the door-to-door phase of the Enhancing Our Health Services Campaign with $532,000 raised and more expected in the coming weeks.  As Honorary Campaign Chair Kaye Williams predicted at the campaign launch in April, the people of Guysborough were generous.

Campaign organizer Elizabeth Connolly praised the 100 or more volunteers who assisted in the campaign to raise the $700,000 community contribution required for the $5.88 million hospital expansion. “We are here today because of the dedication of the canvassers who went door to door to campaign. The amount of time spent on canvassing was truly appreciated,” says Connolly who enlisted volunteers from across the hospital catchment area.

The campaign now moves full swing into corporate canvassing with George Rodgers and a small committee meeting with business owners and corporate representatives to enlist their support. “Many thanks to the corporate donors who have already contributed,” says Rodgers. The corporate campaign will continue until the end of August.

The campaign will also be reaching out in the coming weeks to former and summer residents of Guysborough and family members asking for their support.

Campaign Chairperson Bill Innis is quite comfortable that the goal of $700,000 will be reached. “I have been told that there are significant donations expected in the coming months. We remain confident that we will meet our target.”
